Hear every step coming.
Strafr Audio puts an equalizer on everything your PC plays and a radar on your screen that shows where sounds come from. Bring footsteps forward, see where the shots were, and find out which frequencies a game uses.
One payment, yours for life. For Windows 10 and 11. New to it? The guide starts at zero.
Try the equalizer and the radar
Press play: someone walks around you while an engine rumbles, with a few shots in the distance. Switch between Flat and Footsteps and listen to the steps come forward. It starts quietly.
Drag a point to change it. Double-click the graph to add one. Use headphones: the steps move from behind you on the left to your right.

Sound radar
Pick what it listens for, the way you pick a frequency band in the app.
The radar here follows the scene’s own map. In a game it reads the sound itself: all around you with 5.1 or 7.1 output or calibrated headphone surround, left and right with plain stereo.
Analyze sound
Listens for 10 seconds, then shows which frequencies the sound used most.
The chart of the sound’s frequencies appears here.
What’s inside
- Real-time equalizer
- Up to 20 points on one curve for everything Windows plays, from −18 to +18 dB. Drag them on the graph or type exact values: peak, low and high shelf, low-pass, high-pass and notch.
- Works for every game at once
- The equalizer runs inside Windows’ own audio engine through Equalizer APO, the free open-source equalizer. No virtual sound card in between. The Strafr Audio setup installs it for you.
- Presets
- Footsteps, Competitive FPS, Bass boost and more are built in. Save your own, export them as files, and import presets from friends or the community.
- Live spectrum
- What’s playing right now, drawn behind the curve while you tune it.
- Analyze sound
- Press Analyze and play your game. After 10 seconds a chart shows which frequencies the sound used most and where its strongest peaks are.
- Sound radar
- A see-through overlay shows where sounds come from, all the way around you: with 5.1 or 7.1 output, or on headphones through headphone surround such as Windows Sonic once you calibrate it (8 seconds). With plain stereo it shows left and right. You choose its size, opacity and place on the screen.
- Pick the app and the band
- Let the radar listen to one game only, and only to the frequencies you care about: footsteps, gunshots, voices, or a band of your own.
- Out of the way
- Start it with Windows and keep it in the tray. Your equalizer keeps working while the window is closed.
What you need
Straight answers, so you know what you get before you buy. Presets from other players are in the community.
- Windows
- Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit.
- Equalizer APO
- Free, for the equalizer. The Strafr Audio setup downloads it from its official page and installs it: tick your headset or speakers in its window and restart. The radar and Analyze work without it.
- All the way around
- 5.1 or 7.1 output, or headphones with headphone surround (Windows Sonic, Dolby Atmos or your headset’s 7.1) calibrated once in Strafr Audio. With plain stereo the radar shows left and right.
- One app only
- Listening to a single app needs Windows 11. On Windows 10 the radar and Analyze listen to everything your PC plays.
